MOI:

Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan has announced that the operations room of the Ministry of Interior received a call at 2:30am from the International Hospital reporting the admission of Ahmed Ismaeel Abdulsamad, 22, who was brought to the hospital with a serious injury to his right thigh.

At 4:36am he was taken to Salmaniya Medical Complex, the Public Prosecutor was
informed and an investigation launched. At 5:55am, Ahmed succumbed to his injuries and died.

The Chief of Public Security said that the forensic expert concluded Ahmed died due to severe bleeding as a result of a single bullet wound that cut the main artery of his thigh. He added that initial reports about the shooting say the gunman was driving a civilian vehicle.

He warned people against spreading false information and rumours which might hinder the investigation. He said police were working diligently to bring the guilty to justice. He called upon anyone with any information to contact the police hotline. All calls will be treated as confidential.

He also urged everyone to rely on reputed information channels for the details of the case over the next several days and not to believe everything they see on social media networks.
