The General Director of Civil Defence has announced that 10 Asians died on Sunday due to smoke inhalation when a fire broke out in their old house in East Riffa.
He said the control room received a call at 4:24am and a Civil Defence team rushed to the scene within 6 minutes and made intensive efforts to control the fire.
He said the Public Prosecutor was notified and its representatives arrived at the scene while an investigation was launched to find the reason behind the fire. He called upon employers to follow safety rules in labour camps and install firefighting and safety equipment such as smoke detectors to prevent such tragic mishaps.
