Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan has announced that 11 thugs were arrested as a result of isolated incidents of rioting and vandalism in the Kingdom on Monday.
In Hamad Town, vandals burned wood scrap and fled the scene. The fire spread to a citizen's car parked near by which was largely gutted. In Ras Ruman, a group of thugs attacked policemen with Molotov cocktails, iron rods and stones. Two cars owned by citizens were also damaged in the attack. Police had to interfere to restore order.
Vandals also burned tyres and thus blocked vital roads including Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Road, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Road and the main road in North Sehla. Police cleared the roads and restored the flow of traffic.
The Chief said that investigations into these incidents were continuing and that those involved in the illegal activities would be brought to justice. Anyone with information was asked to call police hotline 80008008. All calls will be treated as confidential.
