His Excellency the Minister of Interior Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on Tuesday condemned the behaviour of policemen seen recently in videos circulating on social media. He said that such behaviour was unacceptable and went directly against the Ministry's policies as well as the Police Code of Conduct. "It also gravely affects the public opinion about the integrity of the police force," he said. He stressed that the actions of a few did not represent the actions of the force overall.
HE the Minister has created a committee chaired by the Chief of Public Security to come up with the policies to identify the causes for such behaviour and solutions for the same. "Anyone who violates our policies will be held accountable," he said.
HE the Minister stressed that some of the videos that had recently been circulating were shot several months ago. "If the videos had been brought to the Ministry's attention earlier, an investigation would have been conducted sooner," he said. He then asked that anyone who filmed such incidents should report them immediately. "We are committed to building a partnership with all segments of the community and hope to work with all groups within our country to maintain peace," he said.
