MOI:

The Director-General of the Muharraq Governorate Police has said that a detainee, Ali Isa Saqer, 31, died at the detention centre on Saturday.

He had been arrested on charges of attempt to murder policemen by trying to run over them in his car, in which attempt he ended up hitting one of the protesters on 13 March.

The Director-General said that on Saturday morning the suspect created chaos at the detention centre, prompting the security forces to interfere to bring the situation under control, but he resisted them sustaining injuries in the process. He was taken to the hospital and later died.

Subsequently, the Public Prosecutor’s Office was informed and a medical examiner was summoned to examine the body and determine the cause of the death.
