Coast Guard organises a meeting with fishermen

MOI:

The Coast Guard has organised a meeting on Tuesday with fishermen, to enhance awareness on fishing rules and regulations to protect marine safety. Coast Guard Commander, Major-General Alaa Siyadi highlighted the importance to improve community partnership to acheive security and general safety. He also urged the cooperation of fishermen and sailers to promote law enforcement by showing their IDs if they would be asked to do so for the protection of all.

He said that the legal proceedings come to limit violations of fishermen and other seafarers. He noted the role of fishermen associations in enhancing awareness and encourage their members to obey the law, cooperate with the coast guard patrols and limit violations to protect marine life. He highlighted the essentiality for fishermen to install Automatic Identification System (AIS) devices at their boats for their safety in case they cross the border or for periodic inspection.

The fishermen expressed thanks and appreciation to the efforts of the Interior Ministry, represented by the Coast Guard in ensuring marine safety and limiting violations.
