Northern Governor inaugurates the Biggest Winner contest

MOI:

Northern Governor Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdulhussein Al Asfoor inaugurated the Biggest Winner contest in the summer of Bahrain, in order to accredit Aali as a healthy city.

This occurred during the video conference with officials from the participating authorities and the contestants. According to the Northern Governor, the positive results and success of the previous five editions have motivated the contestants to enter this new edition, and all that has been achieved because of the community partnership between the public and private sectors.

The Northern Governor stated that the purpose of this year's Biggest Winner contest is to boost the psychological motivation to combat obesity-related risk factors, and to create lifestyles that comply with World Health Organization standards, in an effort to increase individual awareness of chronic diseases. In this new version of the biggest winner, the community is partnered to fight obesity and diabetes, and it incorporates themes used in earlier versions which encourage healthy lifestyles and integrated nutritional and sports approaches.

Dr. Mohammed Salman of Al-Jenan Medical Centre, Clinical Dietitian Areej Alsaad and Director of Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Wafa Ebrahim Alsharbati briefed on the programmes of the participating parties that will be implemented during this programme and the benefits and facilities that will be provided to the participants.

Senior Health Promotion Programme Specialist at the Ministry of Health, Ms. Bushra Hassan Al-Hindi, noted that the criteria for the success of the programme are available, and the most important of which are community partnerships between the public and private sectors as well as volunteering.

At the end of the meeting, several previous participants outlined their most noteworthy success stories and positive experiences, whereas the new participants expressed their enthusiasm to participate in the sixth edition.
