The Northern Governor, Ali Abdul Hussain Al Asfoor planted a number of trees on Madinat Hamad Walkway, in support of the National Action Plan initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality, announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and under the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to mark the National Tree Week each year in the third week of October.
Tree Week is being introduced to support the afforestation plan's goal of increasing the number of trees to 3.6 million by 2035, in alignment with Bahrain's pledge to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
