49 FEBRUARY 2023 The General Directorate of Civil Defence organised a workshop at the Canadian Schoolonthe implementation of a mock evacuation process. This was to train the faculty and others on how to act correctly in the event of an emergency and part of the directorate’s keenness to enhance public safety and implement evacuation plans for various facilities and ensure safety standards are available in educational institutions. This includes alarm systems and fire extinguishers in the correct, wide exits, no obstacles and defining a safe point for assembly and evacuation in the event of any emergency. The mock evacuation was applied by setting off the alarm and measuring the response time taken by the civil defence staff. There were 926 people at the school at the time of the drill.
