APRIL 2023 48 NEWS Ramadancharity initiative is launched o u t h e r n Governor His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa launched the sixth edition of the Majalat Al- Khair initiative by distributing nearly 1,000 charity boxes coinciding with the blessed month of Ramadan. This came after the success and positive returns of the programme over the past years. The launch ceremony was held in the presence of officials, volunteers and affiliates. The Governor said they are keen to launch a series of community initiatives during Ramadan and this initiative is among the first that has achieved continuous success due to its pioneering role in promoting the approach of communication with citizens and residents, and strengthening the principle of partnership. The Governor said the initiative highlights the value of volunteering and its societal concepts in cooperation through the participation of more than 30 male and female volunteers. He said this contributes to the success of the initiative in cooperation with the private sector in the fields of social work. He said the governorate places attention to the needs of the people at the topof its priorities, noting that the involvement of volunteers highlights its goals and establishes good societal principles. The initiative was launched in 2018 as the first of its kind at the level of governorates and includes the breaking the fast project, a charitable project implementedinvariousregions. S
