EDITORIAL here are many security challenges that threaten our world today from all sides, to the extent that the new crimes have spread and their methods have multiplied from the forces of evil and aggression. These seek to strike their national and societal security through organized crime gangs and through the exchange of interests. In the midst of these risks, the 40th meeting of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers was held at its headquarters in the Republic of Tunisia to discuss what was included in the agenda, developments, evaluate and review what was agreed upon and to strengthen the pillars of security based on joint action, close ranks, activate protective tools and implement recommendations, decisions and directives of Their Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies and leaders of our Arab countries. The speech delivered by His Excellency the Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa at the meeting spoke of threats to national security. He said these emanated from studying all types and targets of our national security and their effects. He spoke of societal, economic, electronic and cyber security and terrorist developments that have reached the point of using marches and frantic attempts to drown our countries in the drug trade, pointing to destructive plans to undermine the cohesion of Arab societies and youth and childhood through electronic platforms. His Excellency pointed out that the past decade witnessed a serious security reality of newly created crimes, and created a challenge whose effects extended to civil peace and societal stability, calling for not stopping and being satisfied with response measures and relying on security reactions, but rather on proactive initiatives through predictive readings to explore the depths of what is being hatched against them and prepare them to thwart the evil or limit it, whether through legislation or barriers, technical readiness and speed of implementation by setting protective controls for young people from the risks of cybersecurity. He stressed Bahrain has established in this field a special unit for child protection within the national strategy for cybersecurity to educate children about the risks that may be exposed to. His Excellency stressed that it is a national, human and moral duty that requires solidarity, close ranks and intensified efforts as one of the most important courses that form an authentic basis in our endeavor to maintain security and public order in our Arab societies, which calls us to preserve values and customs and the authentic Arab traditions, stressing that the strength of society comes from the strength of the family. His Excellency hit the nail on the head of the truth because our authentic Arab values call for good, reject evil, and call for partnership and maintaining security.
