35 MARCH 2023 marine waters in Manifa Bay, and the Manifa project turned from a preliminary sketch to something like an engineering miracle in the oil and gas industry. The project was considered a distinguished achievement of logistical, planning and organization work. It took more than seven years to restart the field, and this fieldwas a testament to the skill and competence of the engineering and professional cadres trained at the highest practical and scientific levels. The first major phase of field development was launched in April 2013, which included the addition of 350 new wells and at the same time the trial operation of the field and central processing facilities to produce 500,000 barrels per day was launched. The project confirmed the company’s commitment to international quality, and production began three months before the set date and at costs less than the specified budget. The project consumed more than four million hours of engineering work, a workforce that reached a maximum of more than 21,000 workers, and more than four million hours of design work. The project, after its development, includes 27 artificial islands connected to the shore by a sea bridge and branches with a length of approximately 41 kms. There are 13 offshore platforms for oil production and water injection, with pipelines, electricity cables, submerged communications, and facilities for the central processing plant. It contains facilities for separating gas from oil, gas treatment facilities, a water injection plant, and co-production stations. It also includes a water supply network to meet the needs of water injection from the Al-Wasi aquifer in the Abu Hadriya area, pipelines to collect crude oil, water injection from offshore platforms, and the sea bridge that connects onshore with artificial islands and onshore drilling sites in Munifa and Ras Tanajib in addition to networks of water injection pipelines and distribution pipelines that transport crude oil to the reservoir yard in Juaymah and transfer gas and condensate to the gas plant in Khursaniyah for further processing.
