49 MARCH 2023 Lectures fornewlawyers The Legal Affairs Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments represented by the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies, organized two lectures for new lawyers at the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies. The first lecture was entitled “Mechanisms of the Security Centers’ Work and Their Distinguished Practices” and was presented by Captain Abdullah Ali Bubshait, an officer in the Northern Governorate Police Directorate. He dealt with the structure of the security directorates, the methods of submitting a communication and the stages of the reporting process. The second lecture, “Procedural Guarantees for Inmates and Pretrial Detainees in Correction and Rehabilitation Centers”, was presented by Captain Ali Muhammad Bu Jandal, Legal Affairs Officer at the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre for Inmates. He dealt with the rights and duties of inmates and the regulations for lawyers’ visits to inmates and pretrial detainees. Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Brig. Hammoud Saad Hammoud said these lectures are part of the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Interior and the support of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior to develop human cadres, raise their efficiency, and inform them of all developments to improve the level of work and in line with the policy of the Ministry of Interior to enhance respect for human rights and the rule of law. He honoured the Legal Awareness Team at the department for their efforts in spreading culture and strengthening legal capacities by organizing lectures, A total of 1,317 lawyers benefitted from such lectures in 2022.
