is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa chaired the Traffic Council Meeting. The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunication, the Minister of Works, the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, the Minister of Education, the Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Legislative Authority Affairs, and the Director-General of Traffic attended. His Excellency welcomed the council members, asserting the importance of continuing efforts to reinforce traffic safety for all road users. He noted that dealing with traffic congestion requires reviewing general policies related to the number of vehicles on roads and safety specifications. The meeting discussed topics on the agenda, including conducting a study on successful experiences in dealing with traffic congestion through adopting laws to regulate the number of vehicles and licences. In addition, to utilise technology to manage traffic movement, develop road networks, activate public transportation, and encourage people to use them. In this context, the council formed a committee to conduct a comprehensive study about the nature of traffic in Bahrain and learn about successful experiences. It was also decided to set an integrated plan to expand the entry and exit of roads leading to Bahrain International Circuit and Exhibition World Bahrain. The council also agreed to restructure its Technical Committee. The Minister of Transportation and Telecommunication highlighted efforts to develop the public transportation sector, and the continuous work to increase the number of buses and stations. At the end of the meeting, His Excellency thanked the council members for their efforts to meet traffic safety requirements.
