SECURITY is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, took part in the sixth meeting of the Ministers of Interior of the member states of the International Security Alliance (ISA), in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency thanked and appreciated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his keen interest and personal attendance at the first field exercise of the International Security Alliance member states, which was held in Bahrain. This exercise was characterised by its realism in terms of preparation, planning, and execution, and it achieved its objectives in addressing security challenges in a distinguished and professional manner. “This alliance, which enjoys His Highness’s attention and follow-up regarding its training and operational affairs, has proven its effectiveness in confronting organised and transnational crime,” he said. “The joint qualitative operations reflected the advanced level of security awareness and high readiness of the member states.” He said the recent successes, foremost among them the foiling of attempts to smuggle huge quantities of narcotics, are the fruit of strong coordination and effective integration among the participating security agencies. “This calls upon us to exert greater effort in strengthening the framework of coordination and cooperation to preserve the alliance’s achievements.” He reaffirmed Bahrain’s firm stand in supporting efforts that contribute to enhancing security and stability, and consolidating the principles of cooperation and integration among brotherly and friendly countries, in a way that achieves regional security and international peace. “We also highly appreciate the leading role played by the brotherly United Arab Emirates in leading the International Security Alliance, and the distinguished initiatives it provides to consolidate joint security work and enhance its efficiency.” At the conclusion of their meeting, Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Honours, the Ministers of Interior, affirmed their continued commitment to strengthening and developing the system of joint action as an integrated model for strategic, technical, and field police cooperation under one umbrella, striving to achieve international security and stability. They also emphasised the importance of continuing coordination and the exchange of experiences and innovative practices in the fields of combating organised crime, addressing emerging security threats, and enhancing the institutional capabilities of member states to keep pace with the rapid changes in the global security landscape.
