Pos i t i ve resu l t s h i gh l i ghted Omani mi ni s ter v i s i t s Open Pri sons Comp l ex A s part of his visit to Bahrain, Oman’s Interior Minister Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, accompanied by His Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, visited the Open Prisons Complex. He was received upon arrival by Deputy Interior Minister, Lt. General Adel bin Khalifa bin Hamad Al Fadhel. During the visit, the Director General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, provided a briefing on the facilities and services offered at the complex, emphasising efforts to meet the necessary requirements for beneficiaries and uphold the highest international standards in human rights. He also presented an overview of the positive results achieved through the expansion of the Penalties and Alternative Measures Law and the implementation of the Open Prisons Programme, in addition to launching further rehabilitation and training initiatives for beneficiaries.  He said the Open Prisons Programme represents a landmark achievement in Bahrain’s human rights record, due to the Royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the government’s commitment, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to ensure the project’s implementation in accordance with the highest international human rights standards. The briefing also outlined the objectives of the Alternative Sentencing Project and the Open Prisons Programme, and the successes they have achieved through educational and vocational programmes and reform plans designed to rehabilitate inmates, modify behaviour, and facilitate their gradual reintegration into society. The Omani Interior Minister and his accompanying delegation then toured the complex, where they viewed educational buildings equipped with modern systems, residential units providing comprehensive living services, and a sports club building that supports the physical and vocational training of beneficiaries. The Omani Interior Minister praised Bahrain’s advanced achievements in the field of human rights, expressing his sincere appreciation to HE the Interior Minister for his efforts in implementing and expanding reform and rehabilitation programmes, as well as the positive societal impact of the alternative sentencing initiative.
