Deputy Interior Minister Lt. General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel headed Bahrain’s delegation to the 93rd session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) in Morocco. The Ministry of Interior’s participation reflects Bahrain’s commitment to supporting international joint efforts to combat crime and to strengthen security and police cooperation among member countries, contributing to regional and global security and stability. During the session, participants discussed several key topics related to advancing international efforts to combat organised crime and enhancing global security systems. Deliberations covered ways to develop international cooperation mechanisms in areas such as combating organised crime, asset recovery, and data protection. The meeting also reviewed INTERPOL’s Strategic Framework 2026–2030 and adopted a number of regulatory and administrative resolutions aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of international police work. The session further included elections for the President of INTERPOL and several members of the Executive Committee. As part of ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of Traffic to enhance road safety and address dangerous behaviours that threaten road users, civil traffic patrols registered 169 violations by motorcycles and delivery vehicles over a two- day period.  The vehicles were seized, and legal measures were taken against the offenders. The violations included improper parking, failure to wear a helmet, failure to stay in designated lanes, driving in the emergency lane, crossing pedestrian lines, driving against traffic, and weaving between vehicles at traffic lights. These violations highlight the serious risks posed by disregarding traffic rules and the direct impact of such behaviour on public safety, both for motorcycle riders and other road users. General Tariq Al Hassan praised the historic and distinguished relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, particularly in policing. He noted the continuous development of these ties, reflecting both countries’ commitment to enhancing cooperation based on shared interests. This came during his meeting with the Commissioner of the City of London Police, Pete O’Doherty, held as part of the second Bahrain–UK Strategic Dialogue.  He affirmed that the multiple security achievements of Bahrain are the result of the support and instructions of His Excellency the Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who places great emphasis on advancing the security system. This includes supporting cooperation with friendly countries, exchanging security expertise, and leveraging advanced experience in addressing security challenges. The Chief of Public Security hailed the efforts of the City of London Police in maintaining security and ensuring public safety, highlighting their high readiness, advanced technical capabilities, and specialised training, which make them a leading model in policing. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination across several security areas, including mechanisms to combat organised and transnational crime, economic crime, and cybersecurity risks. It also reviewed avenues for developing security capabilities and enhancing skills through specialised training programmes and the exchange of expertise and experiences, in a manner that supports efficiency and readiness in security work.
