SECURITY is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Anti-Drug Committee, attended the Interior Ministry’s celebration to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Minister of Information, Minister of Education, Deputy Interior Minister, Chief of Public Security, Governors and senior officials attended. His Excellency thanked the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science as well as all relevant security authorities for their sincere and ongoing efforts to fulfil their security responsibilities in protecting society from narcotics. He also appreciated all contributing and coordinating ministries, institutions and individuals. He highlighted the significance of the continuation of national efforts to tackle drug- related challenges to protect youth and the future of the nation. He affirmed the continuation of developing the Interior Ministry’s programmes and initiatives, including the Maan (together) programme against violence and addiction, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Education Ministry, as well as the Recovery programme and the alternative sentencing project’s programmes.
