E t he Mi ni s ter opens A l ternat i ve Sanct i ons Conference is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa inaugurated the First International Conference on Alternative Sanctions. Organised by the Interior Ministry, several ministers, prominent officials, experts in the fields of criminal justice, restorative justice, and human rights and specialists from Bahrain and abroad, attended. The conference aimed to foster the exchange of expertise and showcase successful practices in implementing alternative sentencing programmes, while also advancing modern criminal justice policies in line with the principles of humane justice and the requirements of community security. Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency said Bahrain is a kingdom of progress, humanity, peace, and security. “Today, we gather to reaffirm our shared belief that building strong communities begins with a deep faith in human potential and in granting a second chance to those who deserve to start anew.” He said human values and regulatory legislation, and how these intersect with ideas, experiences, and expertise, while being translated into tangible outcomes that enhance the individual and pave the way for their reintegration into society, will be discussed.
