He added that Bahrain’s success is due to advanced laws and the serious attention paid by many officials, from the top to the bottom, to the programme. This is the sole reason for its continued development and prosperity, as it requires positivity and support at all levels. Center of excellence Engineer Ali Ahmed Al-Dirazi, Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights, praised the Minister of Interior’s announcement of the Ministry’s intention to establish a Centre of Excellence for Alternative Penalties and Open Prisons, a specialized centre for the rehabilitation and training of personnel working to implement alternative penalties. He noted its role in developing the capabilities of those working in the alternative penalties programme, while simultaneously benefiting the project’s beneficiaries and enhancing their social integration. He also highlighted its role in paving the way for other countries to benefit from Bahrain’s experience. He pointed out that Bahrain has acquired distinguished expertise in this regard through its ongoing work to develop an alternative sentencing system. He expressed his sincere thanks to His Excellency the Minister of Interior for his commitment to implementing the alternative sentencing program in line with human rights principles and reformist trends in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
