the road without endangering themselves, the importance of adhering to safety when boarding and disembarking from student buses or their parents’ vehicles, and the proper and safe manner of sitting in these vehicles. Traffic campaigns, whether field or media, play a pivotal role in promoting proper traffic culture and safe driving, and in spreading the culture of adherence to traffic rules among all segments of society. They are not limited to awareness-raising alone; they also raise public awareness of the dangers of violating traffic rules, contributing to changing negative behaviors that cause accidents into positive behaviors that enhance traffic safety. Traffic awareness campaigns are designed according to the target group within society, tailored to age groups or their characteristics, such as children, youth, the elderly, private vehicle drivers, heavy vehicle drivers, and passenger and student transport drivers. This makes traffic campaigns more effective according to the target group and encourages each individual to assume responsibility, as traffic safety begins with the individual. Civil society organizations also play an important and supportive role in promoting traffic safety through awareness, education, and community participation. These organizations serve as a link between official bodies and road users, both citizens and residents, and contribute to effectively spreading traffic awareness. Their role is highlighted by organizing traffic awareness lectures and meetings in community centers and civil society councils. The General Directorate of Traffic cooperates with these organizations to implement joint awareness programs and promote a culture of responsible driving. These organizations are essential partners in achieving a safe and sustainable traffic environment through the support they provide to the department. Social media has become an important player in promoting traffic safety by spreading sound traffic culture, due to its rapid spread and direct reach to various segments of society. Its contribution to promoting traffic safety is highlighted by the short traffic stories, photos, video recordings, and traffic advisories it publishes or republishes. These include short traffic stories, photos, video recordings, and traffic advisories about the dangers of violating traffic rules, such as exceeding the speed limit, running a red light, and the dangers of using a handheld mobile phone while driving, among other serious violations that can lead to tragic accidents. Citizens and residents’ participation in commenting on this content on social media constitutes a direct interaction with traffic hazards. It allows the General Traffic Department to analyze these interactions and issue traffic advice and advisories based on them. Social media has also become a key partner in highlighting the efforts of the General Traffic Department, thanks to its ability to influence and engage with the community on a daily and rapid basis by publishing stories, real-life experiences, and immediate advice about the dangers of incorrect behaviors, as well as about daily traffic flow and its potential impacts, such as traffic congestion. We must realize that traffic safety is not just a slogan we repeat, but rather a daily life behavior. Every driver must realize that the road is not theirs alone, but rather a shared space that everyone uses, requiring respect for others’ right to their safety and the safety of their property, and even their right of way whenever they have it. Let us all be a part of traffic safety and set an example for safe and responsible driving.
