is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has praised the defence cooperation agreement signed with the United Kingdom during the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said the agreement represents an extension of the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries, reinforcing Bahrain’s prominent regional and strategic role due to the vision and guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He highlighted that the UK’s accession to the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement, signed by Bahrain and the United States in September 2023, marks a key step towards bolstering regional security integration, strengthening collective deterrence against external threats and expanding cooperation in trade, science, and technology. He said the defence agreement reflects the shared commitment of Bahrain and the UK to promoting security, stability, and cooperation across multiple fields, including security, economy, and investment, in a manner that serves mutual interests. He also noted both countries’ keenness to enhance regional peace and security through coordinated efforts and joint training, which represents a qualitative leap in their strategic partnership.
