SECURITY is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Civil Defence Council, has inaugurated the new Civil Defence Centre in Riffa. He was received by the Chief of Public Security, Lt. General Tariq Al Hassan, His Highness the Southern Governor, His Excellency unveiled a commemorative plaque, officially inaugurating the new centre and praised the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the close follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the Interior Ministry’s ongoing development and modernisation efforts. He said the Interior Ministry’s initiatives and programmes aimed at ensuring public safety through a comprehensive, integrated system offering advanced security services. He expressed appreciation for the role of the Civil Defence in protecting lives and property and enhancing public safety. He noted the professionalism, preparedness, and field expertise of its personnel who consistently demonstrate courage and dedication in handling emergencies. His Excellency emphasised the importance of equipping Civil Defence centres with the necessary vehicles, personnel, and specialised equipment to ensure efficient operations, timely intervention, and accurate performance in fulfilling their duties. He affirmed the importance of public guidance and education, as well as awareness programmes, in fostering a security culture among members of society. He highlighted the use of modern technologies to build a safe society grounded in community partnership, referring in this context to the launch of the National Civil Protection Platform in November 2023 as a national initiative aimed at enhancing public safety and reducing disaster risks. During the visit, His Excellency received a briefing on the new Civil Defence Centre, which was established to provide swift and effective emergency response amid the growing commercial, residential, and service infrastructure in the Riffa area.
