increased activity. In this context, the General Directorate of Civil Defence is launching awareness campaigns, targeting more than 65 locations across the Kingdom of Bahrain’s governorates. These campaigns include the following topics: safety requirements in shared housing, the safety awareness programme during the holy month of Ramadan, safety in workshops, the awareness campaign for buildings and public markets, the awareness campaign for educational buildings, safety for workers, the industrial facilities campaign, the safety campaign for pilgrims, the awareness campaign for places of worship, the safety campaign for swimming pools, the educational awareness programme on the occasion of Ashura, the safety campaign for health facilities and social institutions, safety in vehicles and electric vehicles, and the awareness program for students. These campaigns are part of the Directorate’s efforts to raise the level of preventive awareness among various segments of society, reduce accident rates, and contribute to the preservation of lives and property. Avoiding Vehicle Fires and Tire Blowouts The General Directorate of Civil Defence stresses the importance of following vehicle safety guidelines, especially during the summer, to avoid the risk of vehicle fires or tire blowouts. It recommends the following: Prevent vehicle fires by ensuring there are no oil or fuel leaks in any part of the vehicle; checking electrical connections to ensure they are free of any exposed wires or damaged insulation; using wires and fuses that comply with technical specifications and standards; not installing any additional devices or connections without consulting a specialist technician; performing periodic vehicle inspections and maintenance; not smoking while driving or refueling; ensuring there is a usable fire extinguisher inside the vehicle and practicing its use. In the event of a vehicle fire or smoke emanating from it, stop immediately on the side of the road in a safe place that does not obstruct traffic; turn off the engine and exit the vehicle quickly; use the fire extinguisher and point it at the site of the fire; do not open the hood completely to avoid flames or burns. Immediately contact Civil Defence on 999 If the fire is not under control, and in implementation of the principle of community partnership, the General Directorate of Civil Defence calls on all drivers to cooperate and adhere to safety procedures. It emphasizes the importance of inspecting vehicles before use to ensure public safety and reduce the rate of accidents and losses. Reports He explained that the total number of reports handled by the General Directorate of Civil Defence reached 5,957 from January to mid-May 2025, including 879 fire reports, 245 aid reports, 145 leak reports, and 53 traffic accident reports. Adherence to safety procedures «In light of the rising temperatures during the summer, we emphasize the importance of adhering to safety and prevention measures to avoid potential risks. We urge everyone to follow the instructions issued by the General Directorate of Civil Defence, actively participate in awareness campaigns and cooperate with Civil Defence teams to ensure the safety of lives and property.
