His Highness the Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa met with residents of the third and fourth constituencies in the Southern Governorate, as part of the Governorate’s ongoing field engagement efforts. Members of the Council of Representatives and officials attended the meeting. The Governor affirmed the Governorate’s commitment to strengthening interaction across all areas to assess residents’ needs and listen to their suggestions. This approach aligns with the noble directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He noted that the Governorate is focused on launching more innovative and advanced development initiatives in cooperation with relevant entities to support sustainable development. During the visit, HH the Southern Governor listened to suggestions and feedback from residents of the two constituencies, particularly those related to security, development, and community services. He emphasised that field visits and direct engagement with citizens reflect the Governorate’s role in adopting a community- focused approach, ensuring residents’ needs are met, and promoting development on all levels. The Airport Customs Directorate at Customs Affairs, in cooperation and coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, has arrested a number of Asians for attempting to traffic 3.35 kilograms of marijuana, with an estimated value of BHD 16,750. The Directorate explained that customs officers at Bahrain International Airport became suspicious of a passenger upon his arrival. He was immediately referred to the red channel, where a search of his luggage led to the discovery of 3.35 kilograms of a substance suspected to be marijuana, concealed inside food containers. The directorate confirmed that the seized narcotics were confiscated, and the case was referred to the Anti-Narcotics Directorate. Following investigations and the identification of the suspects, the individuals involved were arrested for their connection to the case. Northern Governor Ali Abdulhussain Al Asfoor received the Director of the Social Welfare Directorate at the Ministry of Social Development, Ibrahim Ahmed Al Fadhala, in the presence of the Director of Social Programmes and Community Affairs at the Governorate, Mohammed Zaid Al Zayed. The meeting reviewed preparations for launching the Governorate’s summer programme, which aims to support individuals with autism and develop their skills in cooperation with the Bahrain Autistic Society. Discussions also covered ways to enhance cooperation in community support efforts, particularly assisting families affected by accidents and providing shelter during disasters. Plans were also shared for the summer’s comprehensive awareness campaign on home safety and security.
