These include an introduction to the Traffic Law and its executive regulations, as well as dangerous behaviour, most notably driving while using a mobile phone, which negatively impacts road safety and distracts drivers. The programme also includes educating participants about the importance of using safety devices such as seat belts, as well as wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle to reduce serious injuries resulting from failure to adhere to these preventive measures. To mark the launch of Gulf Traffic Week 2025, the Director General inaugurated the Traffic Village at Marassi Galleria Mall. The event aimed to spread awareness messages to citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, promoting a culture of traffic safety and engaging the community in supporting road safety efforts to reduce traffic accidents. The event targeted all segments of society, particularly children, who were welcomed in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The village featured interactive corners addressing the most important traffic challenges through which the community can participate in enhancing safety and security. This included the Traffic Week slogan, which calls for refraining from using mobile phones while driving to ensure the safety of drivers, passengers, and other road users. Student Awareness To enhance traffic awareness and instill road safety concepts among university students, the General Directorate of Traffic, in cooperation with the University of Bahrain, organized an awareness event attended by Brigadier Mohammed Ali Darraj, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic and Professor Fouad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, along with a number of officers and academics. The event emphasized the importance of community partnership in supporting national efforts to reduce traffic accidents and activating the role of educational institutions in spreading the culture of traffic compliance. Honouring distinguished drivers As part of the activities, the General Directorate of Traffic also organized the annual honouring ceremony for distinguished drivers with traffic records free of violations and accidents. The event was held in recognition of their commitment and to strengthen community partnerships in reducing traffic accidents. Brigadier Al Darraj praised the sound directives of His Excellency the Minister of Interior and the continuous follow-up of the Director General, which have contributed to raising traffic safety levels and increasing awareness. He also noted the ongoing cooperation with government and private entities and members of the community in implementing plans and programmes, which have contributed to the department›s success in reducing the death rate resulting from accidents. Director of Traffic Culture Major Khaled Mubarak Bu Qais emphasized that this annual initiative aims to honour committed drivers, who set an example for safe driving and avoid negative behaviour that impacts the smooth flow of traffic.
