BRIEFS C hief of Public Security Lt General Tariq Al Hassan attended the finale of the Police Open Futsal Championship, organised by the Public Security Sports Association, at the Bahrain Handball Federation Hall. The General Directorate of Traffic team claimed the championship title, defeating the team from the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing in the final match. On this occasion, the Chief praised His Excellency the Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa›s directives regarding the provision of the necessary resources and capabilities to host outstanding sports events and championships.   The Chief also commended the high level of performance, fair competition, and sportsmanship displayed by the participating players. He thanked the Public Security Sports Association and all those involved in the successful organisation and preparation of the championship. For his part, President of the Public Security Sports Association, Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Chief for attending the closing ceremony and for his ongoing support and close follow-up of all sports activities organised by the association as part of its sports programme aimed at enhancing the physical fitness of public security personnel. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Chief awarded the championship trophy and gold medals to the winning team and presented silver medals to the runner-up team, wishing all participants continued success and achievement. The General Directorate of Traffic seized 161 delivery motorcycles in April over various violations. The violations varied of wrong parking, not wearing helmets, overtaking via the emergency lane, crossing through the pedestrian lanes, driving on the opposite direction and overtaking vehicles at traffic signals. The confiscation was to emphasise the significance of following traffic rules to protect general safety. The General Directorate pointed out that legal steps would be taken against violations for the high risks of such practices on road users and the motorcyclists. It affirmed that Bahrain is among pioneering traffic rules-adhering countries and its traffic culture is a source of pride. It calls upon all to follow traffic rules as society members are partners in enhancing awareness and road safety for a safer traffic environment.
