SECURITY I n line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to launch this year’s Tree Week, His Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, accompanied by His Highness the Southern Governor Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, planted a tree at the Special Security Force Command headquarters in Sakhir. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to implement the National Afforestation Plan, which aims to plant 3.6 million trees by 2035, supporting Bahrain’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. His Excellency stressed the importance of promoting environmental sustainability and increasing public awareness of the significance of tree planting, in line with the Bahrain’s commitment to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He highlighted the Ministry of Interior’s community role by supporting environmental initiatives, enhancing social responsibility, and expanding green spaces across all security and service facilities, while also developing projects to protect environmental resources. He further emphasised the Interior Ministry’s keenness to foster a culture of volunteerism and environmental stewardship in cooperation with various entities. He affirmed that the Ministry continues to implement programmes and initiatives that promote environmental awareness in society and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly practices.
