H Nat i ona l effort s to enhance ICT sector serv i ces is Excellency the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), chaired the committee’s meeting. The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the Minister of Sustainable Development, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, the Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority and the Coordinator from the Prime Minister’s Office attended. His Excellency affirmed that the committee continues to enhance national efforts to develop government services in the ICT sector, in line with the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These efforts, he noted, contribute to achieving Bahrain’s strategic national objectives for comprehensive digital transformation. After approving the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewing the implemented decisions, the committee discussed key agenda topics, including updates on improving the efficiency and sustainability of government services. His Excellency stressed the importance of enhancing digital development projects across various sectors. This would improve institutional performance and the quality of services provided to citizens and residents, aligning with the leadership’s vision of building a fully integrated digital society that keeps pace with global advancements. The committee reviewed ongoing technological projects and the progress of digital initiatives, along with proposed solutions to ensure efficiency, timely implementation, and quality performance. One of the highlights presented was the “Citizen Lifecycle” initiative via the MyGov application, designed to provide integrated e-services throughout a citizen’s life stages from birth registration and education to healthcare, employment, housing, and retirement. His Excellency praised the initiative as a key milestone in enhancing eGovernment services, making the processing of applications faster and easier across digital platforms and aligning with Bahrain’s approach to improving quality of life and delivering citizen-centric digital services. The committee also discussed the online healthcare project, which aims to expand digital healthcare in Bahrain by providing virtual medical services to patients, thereby reducing pressure on primary health centres and facilitating remote consultations and follow-ups. The committee commended the efforts of relevant entities in promoting digital healthcare transformation and emphasised the importance of this initiative in raising efficiency and improving the quality of medical services. Additionally, the committee reviewed government plans to digitise all public services and enhance interconnectivity between government systems, in line with Bahrain’s national direction to improve government performance and user experience across sectors. His Excellency praised the achievements of Bahrain’s eGovernment programmes, which have become a model recognised by advanced nations for their citizen- driven design and ambitious scope.
