ust as a person is preoccupied with the affairs of life and plans for a better future, they often delve into the sea of their memories, traversing its various stages, pausing at specific events, whether personal or related to others, and applying them to their daily lives, or at least sharing them with others. Amidst the situation of the present and the memories of the past, the question remains: What should we store in our memories? Should we fill them with tragic and sorrowful situations that will inevitably affect the present? Or should we cherish the beautiful events and situations within them, reviving which can cultivate in our souls a love for life and an appreciation for its joys? Naturally, sound souls, as God Almighty created them, are inclined by nature to love life and spread a culture of tolerance and optimism, not to cultivate hatred, resentment, and revenge. This is what the historical American leader Martin Luther King Jr. expressed when he said, “Hate paralyzes life; love sets it free. Hate disrupts life; love harmonizes it. Hate darkens life; love illuminates it.” This means that the process of documenting and preserving memories should be constructive, so that future generations learn to love life and cultivate a culture of openness to others with an optimistic spirit. The wisdom of life tells us that we don’t need to cultivate hatred, hoard tragic images and situations, or instill outdated beliefs and ideas—or at the very least, ones that can be eroded by time. Instead, we need to rebuild souls and revive hope within them. When a loved one departs, we remember their humanity and the wisdom with which they faced life. Memory is nourished by love and forgiveness, building pure souls that believe in life, hope, and the future. In short, we need to cultivate hope, optimism, and a positive spirit, and not dwell on past pains and sad memories. We need to remember the good times that foster tolerance and optimism, reviving hope in our hearts. For, hope is the gateway to life, and a pure soul is its foundation. b i n d a i n a@b a t e l c o . c om . b h Maj. Gen.
