MOI:

His Excellency Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Kahlifa, His Excellency Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and His Excellency Defence Minister Lt-General Yousef bin Ahmed bin Hussain Al Jalahma took part in the GCC meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies Interior, Defence and Foreign Affairs Ministers in Riyadh on Wednesday.

The meeting, chaired by Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, was held  to discuss basic issues related to political, defence and security affairs and to set clear strategies and stances to reinforce the GCC organisational framework.

During the meeting, HE the Interior Minister delivered the following speech:

Praise be to Allah and peace be upon our master Mohammad and his family and companions

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior

Your Highnesses and Excellencies

Distinguished participants

Peace, mercy and blessings of God

I am honoured on this occasion to express thanks and gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; HRH Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior; and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence for hosting the meeting and continuous support to ensure the progress of joint GCC operations for further cooperation and integration.

Your Highnesses and Excellencies

I’m glad to congratulate brotherly Qatar and Saudi Arabia for the release of their citizens kidnapped in Iraq and praise the efforts that helped in their safe return to their countries.

Your Highnesses and Excellencies,

This meeting reflects the top priority given by Their Majesties and Highnesses GCC leaders to a comprehensive GCC security to achieve goals and aspirations to serve Gulf security. The meeting reflects efforts to reinforce cooperation between brothers, something which has become a reality and has importance regionally and internationally.

The meeting represents the spirit of cooperation and unity between the GCC countries and is considered an advanced phase to reinforce joint military, security  and political work. We are therefore looking forward to achieve the meeting’s goals and implement its ambitious recommendations that aim to achieve further harmony and solidarity, and reinforce security and stability after being reviewed by experts.

This meeting represents the basis of unified political stances and approaches with the priority to achieve security and protect GCC achievements.

Your Highnesses and Excellencies,

The world, as you know, respects alliances and the influential power centres in general, but the internal strength remains our top responsibility and the cornerstone to maintain our security and stability, which is targeted by various foreign means. This requires the reinforcement of the spirit of nationalism and cohesion. I’m glad to praise the achievements and successes of joint GCC work at various levels.

Your Highnesses and Excellencies,

Although we hope for the success of political efforts to achieve regional security and stability, but we still face dangerous threats from Iran and Iraq which support terror groups, criminal activities and negative media campaigns. This a challenge that needs to be tackled through all available means and a unified approach. This is not abstract information, but a concrete fact that terrorist operations target the lives of security personnel and represent threats to the efforts to maintain security and stability. Such acts promote sectarianism and extremist ideas, and the continuation of such dangerous interference is a threat to political efforts to achieve security and stability for all of us. As you know, in the Kingdom of Bahrain we live, by the grace of God, under the generous reign of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who is a leader in reinforcing moderation, tolerance and justice for all.

Your Highnesses and Excellencies,

This meeting asserts the dedication and determination towards a unified stance in dealing with various strategic issues to maintain security and stability and reinforce our active role regionally and internationally in view of the directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses GCC leaders, may God protect them.

Wishing the best to all.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God.
