needs.
• To disseminate and propagate policing and security studies and adopt their results and
recommendations.
• To encourage researchers to develop models, learn about different security experiences
and grasp security crisis management aspects.
• To reinforce the principle of partnership by linking communities, individuals and
institutions from inside and outside the kingdom through research.
• To address practical problems by encouraging applied research studies.
• To encourage scientific research and hone in the intellectual talents of the individuals
sharing a passion for research and exploration in all policing and security sectors.
• To contribute to the development of security and police sciences and enrich libraries with

Award Nomination Criteria |
 |
• The participant should be the genuine owner of the research and be a natural or legal
person from Bahrain or outside.
• The participant cannot enter more than one individual work in the competition.
• The research work should be presented either in Arabic or in English.
• The research should not have been published, used in previous research contest or
presented for an academic degree.
• It is not permitted to resubmit a research work, similar in form or in content, already
presented at this competition or elsewhere.
• The participant must not be member of the Research Award Panel.
• The research should not include any information or data which is confidential or private
without the prior consent of the concerned party(s). Ministry of Interior is not responsible
for any breach of this clause by a participant.
• The participant may submit a maximum of two research works,of which one must be
individual.
• The participant must respect the Award announcement deadline.
• The participant must adhere to nomination procedures.
• The participant must abide by any conditions that may be announced later. |

Research Paper Layout |
 |
(a). The final research paper should not exceed a word count of 16,000 or be less than 10,000 words, excluding bibliography and appendices.
(b). Margins:
The research paper should have one and half inch left and right margins and one inch margins for top and bottom.
(c). Spacing:
The research text layout must be one and half spaced including notes and quotations .
(d). Fonts:
Text must be in black colour, Times New Roman and font should be size 12. Main headings must be of the same font, size 14 and in bold. Subheadings to be in bold and italicized, size 12 . |

Conditions: |
 |
The Award will be granted to the researcher if the following conditions are fulfilled:
• Respects the rules and conditions stated in the Award announcement.
• Implements any amendments proposed by the jury.
• Demonstrates authenticity, depth and earnestness in research.
• Contributes new knowledge in its respective field.
• Adheres to authentic scientific research rules, documentation accuracy and use of valid
methodologies.
• Relies on recent statistics and scientific references. • Adheres to other criteria as deemed
appropriate by the jury. |

Award Value: |
 |
• Bahraini Dinars Twenty-two thousand, five hundred (BD 22,500) to be distributed as
follows:
• Ten thousand Bahraini Dinars (BD10, 000) for the first place.
• Seven thousand, five hundred Bahraini Dinars (BD7500) for the second place.
• Five thousand Bahraini Dinars (BD5000) for the third place.
• Certificate of merit and medal bearing the Award name, winner's name and his / her
position (first, second or third). |

Conferral of the Award: |
 |
The Award is granted to winning researches as per set criteria and may be shared by two
or more researchers based on the decision of the Research Award Panel and on the basis
of the following mechanism:
• In the event of two researches winning the first place, the Award money of the first and
second places together are divided equally between the two winners and the second
place would be cancelled.
• In the event of two researches winning the second place, the Award money for the second
and third places are divided equally between them and the third Award would be
cancelled.
• In the event of two researches winning the third position, the Award money for the third
position will be split equally.
• If a research, shared by more than one researcher, wins a Award, Award money will be
divided among them equally and each of them receives a certificate of merit and a medal. |

Suspension of the Award: |
 |
The Research Award Panel reserves the right to suspend this award if recommended so by
the jury.
Liability:
The participant assumes full responsibility and civil and/ or criminal liability including
encroachment on copyright or any claims arising from the presented work from any
quarters.
Copyright:
Copyright of the winning researches remains with the Ministry of Interior for a five-year
period from the date the Award is granted and the researcher shall sign an undertaking in
this regard. However, the Ministry of Interior may totally or partly, relinquish these rights,
before the expiry of the five-year period. |
