Interior Ministry Undersecretary Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa attended a seminar to mark World Human Rights Day on Wednesday.
Organised by the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, the event was attended by heads of human rights organisations and NGOs.
Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa highlighted the continuation of the Kingdom with the modernisation and development process launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and based on the sovereignty of the law and respect for human rights and dignity of citizens and residents.
He said that the royal directives and the reformation system in Bahrain has been developed within the comprehensive advancement of the criminal justice system to keep a base with international systems.
He hailed the directives of the government led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister to promote the sovereignty of the law, the state of organisations and human rights organisations.
He continued that the human rights success of Bahrain asserted by the international community and organisations comes as part of the efforts of many organisations and ministries. He hailed the role of the Interior Ministry in promoting security and stability.
He said that the directives of His Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa to adopt the best international practices, including the endorsement of the alternative sanctions in 2017 and the open prisons programme in 2022. He said that the beneficiaries of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law reached 4511.
