Northern Governor, Ali Abdulmohsen Al-Asfoor, today paid an inspection visit to the Al-Lawzi area and lake in Hamad Town to be reassured about the safety of the region as seasonal rains continue in the kingdom.
The visit is in line with the directives of the Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, to ensure the safety of the citizens and their property.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the tremendous efforts exerted by the Works Ministry to put in place preventive measures to avoid water floods in the Al-Lawzi Lake and its adjacent areas by installing high-capacity pumps and connecting them to rainwater drainage networks to suction the water and divert it to the nearby marine areas or the emporary lake that was created to enhance the absorptive capacity of Al-Lawzi Lake and the expansion of rainwater channels and drains.
These measures are in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop services and provide the best of them to citizens and residents, he said.
Governor Al-Asfoor toured the area extending from Roundabout to 7, which is usually subject to rain water pooling and flooding during the rainy season.
He praised the work carried out by the Ministry of Works in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defense and the General Directorate of Traffic at the Ministry of Interior, affirming that those efforts are widely appreciated by everyone, especially the Al-Lawzi region citizens.
