NPRA Undersecretary opens a workshop

MOI

The first workshop entitled “Legal Identity: Border Security and Safe Mobility” started on Tuesday. Organised by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the workshop is being held in cooperation with the International Organisation for Migration and Naif Arab University for Sciences. Arab experts and representatives of regional and international organisations are taking part.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Interior Ministry Undersecretary for NPRA, Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa welcomed the attendees. He said that the workshop aims to promote the exchange of expertise and benefit from the best international and national practices.

He hoped the workshop would achieve its goals and develop recommendations to promote cooperation. He asserted that national laws are the foundation of legal identity. He affirmed that the legal identity facilitates its holder to travel per the concerned international standards legally.  He highlighted the high classification of the Bahraini passport at the global level. He continued that Bahrain continues to develop the legal identity through the e-passport project, a remarkable development of travel documents that enhances Bahrain's international position internationally in this field.

The workshop is part of the initiative to form the Arab Centre for Technical Cooperation in Migration and Border Management in Riyadh. It aims to enhance cooperation between regional countries and international organisations, enhance capabilities, exchange experiences, and adopt best practices.
