The joint security team of the Interior Ministry of Bahrain and the UK Home office has held an online meeting. The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan and Head of International Competence Development at the UK Home Office, Mark Chalon, co-chaired the meeting. It was attended by the Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, and representatives from both sides.
The Chief welcomed the attendees and conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and his best wishes for the meeting to achieve its goal. He hailed the solid historical and strategic ties between the two countries.
The meeting reviewed joint security projects, initiatives, and means to develop security cooperation, exchange counterterrorism expertise, and benefit from the experiences of Durham Police and the University of Huddersfield.
The meeting also reviewed the role played by the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing in expanding the application of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and initiating the implementation of the open prisons program for promoting human rights.
Both sides highlighted their cybersecurity efforts and dedication to providing security services and fighting money laundering and terrorism financing.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief thanked the UN Home Office for its efforts to enhance security cooperation between the two countries. He looked forwards to promoting further cooperation between the two sides.
