Action in the Ministry of Interior Tennis Challenger resumed on Monday at the Public Security Officers Club in Gudaibiya.
The event, which runs from 12 to 19 February by the Public Security Sports Association, saw some neck-and-neck matches in the qualifying round as well as the last-32 round.
In the second qualifying matches, Turkish Yanki Erel defeated Japanese Kaito Uesugi 2-0 (6-4, 6-4), Ukrainian Vitaliy Sachko beat Russia's Andrey Chepelev 2-0 (6-4, 6-2), while Norwegian Viktor Durasovic defeated Italy's Salvatore Caruso 2-1 (3-6, 6-3, 6-1).
In othe matches, Ukrainian Aleksandr Brynin defeated Bulgarian Dinko Dinev 2-0 (6-1, 6-3), while Egyptian Mohamed Safwat came from behind to edge German Kai Wehnelt 2-1 (3-6, 7-5, 7-5), while Italian Andrea Arnaboldi ended the hopes of his competitor Colin Sinclair from the Northern Mariana Island to qualify with a score (6-4, 7-6).
As for the 32nd round, Australian 96th seed, Christopher O’Connell, qualified after defeating Austrian 185th seed, Maximilian Neuchrist 2-0 (6/4, 6/4), Czech's Viet Kupriva defeated Russian Pavel Kotov 2-0 (6-2, 6-1), then Czech's Marek Gengel edged Romanian Filip Cristian Jianu (7-6, 6-7, 7-6) in another thriller.
Meanwhile, the 32nd round will end today (Tuesday) with 13 matches where Bahraini Youssef Qaed plays his first match in the tournament when he faces Daniel Michalisski, Australian 79th seed Gibson Kubler and Italian Stefano Travilla will face off, Russian Pekan Al Tranif with Jordanian Abdullah Shalbaya, Italian ranked 108th Francesco Passaro faces Japanese Kaichi Okida, Italian Lorenzo Justino meets Egyptian Mohamed Safwat, Italian Salvatore Caruso faces 109th ranked Matteo Arnaldi, Czech 115th ranked Thomas Machak plays Italian Alessandro Giannisi, and Ukrainian Vitaly Sacco meets Italian Andrea Aronapoldi.
Late on, German Jan-Lennard Struff takes on Russian Andrei Shepelev, Australian Tanasi Kokkinakis plays Turkish Yankee Ariel, Frenchman Alexander Mueller plays Spaniard Oriol Roca Batala, Norwegian Victor Durasovich meets Ukrainian Alexander Brainen, and Finn Otto Virtanen takes on 91st-ranked Alexei Popyrin.
