His Excellency Capital Governor Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman bin Rashid Al Khalifa affirmed his keenness to continue implementing the healthy cities programme in accordance with the plan developed at the launch of the programme aimed at transforming the capital into a healthy governorate.
HE noted the pioneering role of the Healthy Cities Programme adopted by the Capital Governorate in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization, as the programme contributes to strengthening social ties and providing an environment-friendly and health-promoting infrastructure through a sustainable development programme that adopts international standards.
This came during His Excellency's attendance at the training workshop organised by the Ministry of Health on the Healthy Cities Programme in the presence of Deputy Capital Governor Hasan Abdullah Al Madani. The attendees discussed the objectives of the programme, Methods of implementation in addition to learning about international success models.
The World Health Organization announced in 2021 that Manama won the title of "Healthy City" as the first capital in the Eastern Mediterranean region to achieve this feat added to the records of the Kingdom.
