Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, has received a delegation from the UK National Crime Agency. The delegation is part of the agency’s Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crimes Unit. The Director-General of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security attended.
The Chief welcomed the delegation and hailed the role of the agency in fighting organised crimes, human trafficking and cybercrimes. He highlighted the importance of such visits to promote security cooperation between Bahrain and the United Kingdom as part of the directives of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The meeting reviewed cooperation, coordination, exchange of expertise and methods to enhance joint security work, especially in protecting society from cyberspace risks in general and families and children in particular.
The delegation was briefed on the role of the Child Cyberspace Protection Unit of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, along with its strategy to ensure the highest protection level for children while using various online software and applications.
The delegation visited various related official and civil organisations, such as the Family and Children Protection Office of the Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate, Supreme Council for Women, Family and Children Public Prosecution and Children Protection Centre of the Social Development Ministry. They also visited several NGOs.
At the end of the visit, the delegation expressed appreciation for the children protection efforts of the Interior Ministry and the role of the Child Cyberspace Protection Unit in enhancing awareness among children and parents.
