The joint security work Team between Bahrain Interior Ministry and the UK Home Office held a meeting chaired by Chief of Public Security Lt. General Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan and Deputy Director of International Strategies at the UK Home Office Mr Mark Challen. The meeting was held within the framework of the joint efforts to enhance security cooperation between the two countires. MOI Undersecretary Shaikh Nasir bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, President of Customs Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa and a number of senior officers and official at the Interior Ministry attended the meeting.
Chief of Public Security welcomed Mr Challen and the accompanying delegation and valued the historical relation between the two countries which has gone for more than two hundred years. He asserted on the importance of the meeting that followed the visit of HE Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to the United Kingdom.
The meeting discussed security cooperation and coordination in fields of ability building in police work, combating and financing terrorism, border security, confronting crises, disasters and cybersecurity, in addition to a number of security issues and developments on the regional scene.
Director- General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa received Head of UK side in the Joint Security Work Team during his visit to the Open Prisons Complex. He asserted that the civilised project represented the human rights system in Bahrain and translated the directives of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to improve the provisions of Alternative Penal Code which considers the open prisons an important stage in its implementation.
Mr. Challen was briefed on the facilities, equipment, services and training and rehabilitating services for beneficiaries of the open prisons which came as a continuation of the success of the alternative sentencing project.
On the other hand, the Deputy Director of International Strategies at the UK Home Office visited the Counter Explosives School of the Special Security Force.
Deputy commander of Special Security Force Brigadier Ali Jeham Al Zabi gave a briefing on the role of the school and the support provided from Interior Minister and the follow-up of Chief of Public Security to strengthen the training system.
Head of the UK side was also briefed on public safety mechanism which contributes to the professional performance of tasks.
