Chief of Public Security Lt.General Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan opend the “UN Convention Against Corruption and the recommendations received by the Kingdom of Bahrain at its first and second sessions " workshop. The workshop was organised by General Directorate of Anti- Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security in association with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. A number of representatives of relevant authorities in the Kingdom participated.
Chief of Public Security asserted that the workshop comes in implementation of the directives of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to review the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and follow-up on developments in the recommendations received by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the report of the UN Convention Against Corruption in the first two sessions. In addition to discussing the measures taken in this regard, praising the achievements made by the Kingdom in combating corruption in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and local and international partners. Also, he stressed on the significant attainments of the Kingdom in combating corruption.
Meanwhile, Director- General of Anti- Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security Brigadier Bassam Mohammed Al Maraj, indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has made many achievements to cope with the challenges and dangers that negatively affect the economic situation of the Kingdom, of which was the establishment of the General Directorate for Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security to be within an integrated system to address all financial and electronic crimes in addition to corruption crimes, which were among the most serious crimes that affected the social and economic level of society.
He emphasised that the holding of such workshops came within the framework of the wise directives of His Excellency Interior Minister and the close follow-up of Chief of Public Security, which contributes to raising the level of efficiency of law enforcement agencies to combat corruption and enhance integrity at the local and international levels through cooperation with all concerned parties, in addition to international cooperation in order to implement international requirements dictated by the agreements concerned with promoting integrity and combating corruption, especially the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
The 3-day workshop will focus on the UN Convention Against Corruption and cooperation between all relevant institutions, which embodies the Kingdom of Bahrain's keenness and commitment to implementing the provisions of this agreement by intensifying cooperation and coordination among the relevant authorities.
