Director- General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khlifa received Deputy Chief of Mission David P. Brownstein and the accompanying delegation.
The Director- General asserted that the Open Prisons Programme is a bright sign in the human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain, hailing the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the keenness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to improve its implementation. Adding that Interior Ministry under the guidance of HE interior Minister Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa was keen to adopt the best international standards in alternative punishments and open prisons.
During the meeting, the Director- General reviewed the objectives of the Open Prisons Programme as one of the effective programmes in the field of enhancing community security and developing the human rights system
The Director- General also briefed the Deputy Chief of Mission on the rehabilitation and training services and programmes provided to the beneficiaries, as well as the modern facilities and equipment and advanced technologies used and the procedures followed in the programme, which comes as a continuation of the successes of the alternative sentencing project.
