Chief of Public Security co-chairs a security meeting

Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan and the Principal Deputy Coordinator for the Bureau of Counterterrorism of the US State Department, Chris Landberg, co-chaired the online meeting of the third session of the Security Strategic Dialogue between Bahrain and the United States. 

The Chief of Public Security conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for the success of the meeting based on the outcomes of his visit to the United States and the signing of the memorandums of understanding between the two countries. 

The Chief hailed the instructions of HE Interior Minister to enhance security competency, capabilities and performance through training, modern technology and opening up to advanced expertise and experiences. He valued the security cooperation and coordination between the two sides in counterterrorism and fighting organised crimes. 

The Chief highlighted the efforts of the Interior Ministry in protecting security and stability and Bahrain’s accomplishments in tackling money laundering and terrorism financing. He also highlighted the achievement of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing in enforcing the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and the open prisons programme to promote human rights. 

Meanwhile, the US official appreciated Bahrain’s dedication to promoting joint efforts as part of the coordination between the two countries. 

The meeting reviewed the latest security development within the signed MoUs and methods to exchange information about cybersecurity risks and respond to information security incidents to promote the best security services through detecting cyber hackings. 

The meeting was attended by the CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre, Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs, Brigadier Mohammed Al Harram, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the CEO of National Financial Intelligence Centre Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the US Ambassador to Bahrain Steven Bondy and US officials.
