Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, chaired the Interior Ministry delegation that participated in a meeting for Gulf Public Security Directors in Riyadh on Monday.
He hailed the support of His Excellency Interior Minister to reinforce the future visions to protect the security of the nation and citizens, valuing his instructions to continue regional security cooperation and coordination per the decisions of Their Highness and Excellencies Gulf Interior Ministers. He highlighted the security challenges that required the development of cooperation mechanisms for being a homeland security priority. He said that cyber threats risk information security, infrastructure and operating systems. Therefore, it is essential to further cooperation between security authorities. Regarding combating narcotics, he said that despite remarkable efforts, illicit drugs are still in use and risk community security, especially with unconventional manufacturing and drug dealing methods.
The Chief said that although AI apps are essential, they are also among security challenges, especially the apps that could empower criminals to utilise technology in their criminal activities.
He concluded that readiness and preparedness for crisis management and recovery are crucial to achieving comprehensive security. He said Gulf security is based on joint work to achieve common goals.
The meeting reviewed topics on the agenda and matters of common interests. The Interior Ministry delegation included Coast Guard Commander Brigadier Mohammed Al Ghattemm, Director of the Chief of Public Security Office Col. Ahmed Al Dhan and Director of Security Cooperation Col. Talal Taqi.
