Jordanian Director of Public Security, Major-General AbeidAllah Maaitah, visited the Open Prisons Complex and the Royal Academy of Police (RAP) on Tuesday in the presence of the Deputy Chief of Public Security, Major-General Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
During his visit to the Open Prisons Complex, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing briefed the Jordanian official and the accompanying delegation on the efforts to expand the implementation of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law and the open prisons programme. He also highlighted the rehabilitation and training programmes provided to the beneficiaries to help them become active members of society.
He said that since the endorsement of the Alternative Sanctions and Measures Law, per the directives of His Majesty the King and follow-up of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister, this civilised and humanitarian project has become a bright side of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He said that the instructions of His Excellency Interior Minister are a guideline in all operations and implementation procedures. The open prisons programme becomes one of the alternative sanctions phases and remarkable steps in the reform system.
The Jordanian officials inspected the complex, including educational buildings, housing units and other services, including sports facilities and an internet club.
Meanwhile, RAP Commander Brigadier Fawaz Al Hassan briefed the Jordanian officials about the academy and its educational and training services for the Interior Ministry’s affiliates.
The Jordanian Public Security Directorate hailed the efforts of the Interior Ministry to promote human rights by increasing the beneficiaries of the alternative sanctions and the open prisons programme. He also applauded the role of RAP in training police personnel.
