Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, was awarded the 40 Under 40 Award by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) at their annual award conference in San Diego, California. The Alternative Sentencing Project derives its pillars from the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The 40 Under 40 Award is a programme designed to recognise 40 law enforcement professionals under the age of 40 from around the world for demonstrating leadership and commitment to their profession. The award aims to honour the top rising law enforcement leaders from around the globe for their service and efforts to improve their communities.
On this occasion, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing expressed his pride in this high-level recognition, which is essentially an international tribute to the Alternative Sentencing Project, which is a Bahraini model in rehabilitation and community service, based on human values and the noble principles in the reform era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Also, the Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing hailed the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He added that the project has become a model for achieving criminal justice goals and a bright platform for human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing said that serving the country is an honour that we have learnt from His Excellency Interior Minister, stressing that the programmes’ and systems’ development and success were reflection of the support of His Excellency Interior Minister to the Alternative Sentencing Project and the Open Prisons Programme.

Founded in 1883, it has expanded its membership around the globe, with over 33,000 members in over 170 countries. The IACP is dedicated to creating safer communities. It often holds workshops for law enforcement professionals worldwide to exchange new ideas and best practices.
