Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, co-chaired with Deputy Director of International Strategy, Engagement and Delivery of the UK Home Office, Mark Challen, a meeting of the joint security work team between the Interior Ministry of Bahrain and its UK counterpart. The meeting was held in the United Kingdom in the presence of the Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs and various security representatives from the two countries.
The Chief conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Excellency Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for the meeting to achieve its common goals and visions. He hailed the historical ties between the two countries, highlighting the significance of the meeting in serving the interests of both friendly countries.
He expressed gratitude and appreciation for the support of HE Interior Minister in various public security aspects and the importance of such support in promoting the status of Bahrain and regional and international security cooperation through memorandums of understanding and agreements. He noted the continuation of holding joint security meetings between the two sides to review regional security happenings and challenges that required joint efforts to promote security and stability.
The meeting reviewed security situations, cooperation, coordination and exchange of expertise. Building capabilities in police work, counterterrorism and terrorism financing were also reviewed, along with the development of academic programmes, air aviation security and cybersecurity.
Both sides discussed future cooperation between security directorates to meet the Interior Ministry’s strategy to develop all security authorities and sectors to achieve performance excellence, training for officers of the General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation and training on examining passports. In the end, the Chief thanked the UK home office for its efforts to promote security cooperation between the two countries.
