Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hasain, has chaired an urgent meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee with the participation of representatives from ministries and concerned bodies.
The panel was briefed about a report on efforts to deal with today’s heavy rain implications by dealing with rainwater gathering areas and the falling of lampposts, trees and signs. Along with traffic accidents to ensure smooth traffic flow on roads and main intersections.
The committee highlighted that it coordinates and supports the efforts of competent authorities through the General Directorate of Civil Defence to enhance the performance of those authorities to deal with the rain impacts. In this context, the Geographic Security System received 156 rain-related cases until this evening, where the civil defence efficiently dealt with them.
Meanwhile, the Chief hailed the intensified efforts of the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, Electricity and Water Authority and concerned Interior Ministry’s directorate in dealing with rain implications, valuing cooperation of citizens with the authorities in promoting general safety.
He asserted the activation of the emergency plans through a well-studies scientific and field approach, noting that the Operations Directorate, in cooperation with police directorates in governorates, civil defence and the General Directorate of Traffic, have taken onsite procedures to help citizens and residents and dealt with rainwater gathering areas, along with talking received cases. He said that the National Committee works continuously to follow up on the latest developments that could affect general safety and inspect preparedness.
