Capital Governorate launches first automatic beach cleaning device

The Capital Governor, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, attended the launch of the first automatic beach cleaning device. It is manufactured to remove wastes in environmentally friendly methods to protect the natural ecosystem. The launch took place during a cleanup campaign by Zain Bahrain Company in cooperation with Al Salam Bank and Our Sea Company.

The governor highlighted the dedication of the governorate to supporting green innovations and modern technology-related initiatives. He continued that such efforts meet the Capital Healthy Governorate Programme’s goals in cooperation with the Health Ministry and the World Health Organisation. He asserted the dedication of the governorate to promoting the sustainability of projects, development, and community programmes. 

He said the first-of-its-kind initiative for utilising modern devices to clean the coast and sand highlighted the significance of patronships with the private sector to support such initiatives. 

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Zain Bahrain, Mohammed Zain Al Abidin, said that the campaign comes out of the company's belief in the power of collective action and the positive change that such initiatives can bring in inspiring individuals and organisations to take responsibility for preserving coastlines, raising awareness about marine pollution, making a lasting impact on the local environment, and helping raise awareness about marine pollution, along with the importance of sustainable waste management practices.

He highlighted that the initiative comes as part of the telecommunications company's commitment to corporate social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and the need to address the issue of marine pollution and waste management throughout the Kingdom. 

He added that the community initiative is consistent with Zain's approach of finding different ways to integrate digital and innovative methods to serve the environment. 

For his part, the Head of Marketing and Communications and Head of Sustainability at Al Salam Bank, Mahmoud Qanati, said: “The bank’s support for such initiatives confirms our serious commitment to supporting society and the environment, which will enable us to maintain the continuity of sustainable growth, and will also help us continue to impact communities positively in the future.”

He stressed the bank's keenness to continue cooperation with the Capital Governorate to support projects to increase public environmental awareness and community partnership.
