The Northern Governor, Ali bin Shaikh Abdulsussein Al-Asfoor chaired the weekly meeting to discuss the activities and programmes of the National Day.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Colonel Abdullah Ali Rashid Ma'antar and other officials. As an initial step toward enabling women to play a significant role as partners in comprehensive development, the governor announced that a dialogue session in honour of Bahraini Women's Day will be held on Thursday at the Arab Open University.
The governor affirmed that the events this year will focus on revitalising Bahrain's popular heritage, which is attractive to younger generations because of its sociological and economic ties to historical aspects of Bahraini society, with the aim of protecting it and reviving it in modern forms that are compatible with modern life, in cooperation with all relevant governmental and private agencies.
The meeting also discussed the most important developments of the biggest win competition organised by the government in its seventh edition with the aim of fighting obesity and chronic diseases to be recognised as a healthy province because the number of participants in this edition is about 74 candidates, said preparations are underway to announce the results during the National Day celebration.
